My name is Matt and I have been using Bikirom for around 3 years. I have found it very easy to use and very tuner friendly for the home tuner or professional alike.

In the last few months, I have been working on a few independant projects to expand Bikiroms flexibility. Part of this has been using Bikiroms recently released 15 maps to create an E85 Flex fuel tuning option. This involves using the General Motors Flex Fuel sensor to 'sense' the Ethanol content in the fuel system. The idea behind this revolves around the fact that E85 still burns at stoich under light load allowing the O2 sensor to control AFR's, with the 'light blue' sections of the fuel map being tuned richer than 98RON fuel. Timing maps can be altered as per normal to suit Ethanol content, with E85 allowing for much more ignition advance.

My other project has involved the Nissan VQ35DE 3.5L V6 engine. With this engine finding its way into S13 Silvias, Holden Torana's and other cars of late, including a few Nissan Pulsars, I was forced to experiment with Bikirom for a cheap and effective tuning solution. My current system involves the Nissan R34 RB25DET GT-T ECU, where I went to the extent of taking the RB25 firing sequence to fire the VQ35DE firing order, so that the second cylinder to fire on the RB25 results in the correct second VQ35 cylinder firing. This process was assisted by using the RB25DET air flow meter, O2 sensor, coolant temp sensor and most importantly, getting a suitable camshaft trigger signal from the rear camshaft sensor.
Future progress will involve the factory Nissan Maxima VQ30 ECU for full tuning capability of the Nissan Maxima.

As you can imagine, the combination of E85 and the Nissan VQ35DE with some engine work will result in some strong performance on a budget, with Bikirom being the best value for money tuning option for this engine :)

Another thing that can be learnt from this is that a Nissan S15 ECU with a Bikirom could be used as an aftermarket ECU for any other 4cyl option with the right O2 sensor, air flow meter and crank signal, which makes it a cost effective option for autocross/khanacross/track day engine setups :)

BadBiki

Currently writting the BikiSoft Extensions feature.. This feature will allow users to import and program DLL's in .NET 2.0 into the software to tap into the data stream from the Board and into BikiSoft.. this allows users to create custom functions to add data into the stream, remove data, manipulate it etc...

I will release an SDK for this addon and the first reference design will be for the Teckedge WB02 products...

Been working on this for a while now, and the software is now completely ready for addon dll's at run time..

My name is Clint & I have a modified SR20VE powered Nissan Primera P11 and am using a Bikirom as my ECU of choice. My P11 was the first to have a bikirom installed and my Tuner Paul 'The Alienprobe' & I had the normal teething issues you have when doing something new. Lucas was very helpful, working through each problem with us and the Bikirom is now, I believe, the best budget ECU for this engine. It has features that the standalone ECUs costing much more don't have.

The SR20VE is dual cam profile like VTEC & normally the cam-switching solenoids are earthed directly through the SR20VE ECU. We don't use the SR20VE ECU & instead use a P11 SR20DE ECU as the VE ECU has many compensations that make it difficult to daughterboard successfully. Most tuners in NZ use a daughterboard in the VE ECU but they cannot be used with an emulator unless you order special ROM chips. Even then you need special software & a chip burner so it's very hard for the average person to have a play themselves. The AFRS on the daughterboards are all over the show too, as the ECU fights to compensate.

Bikrom - all you need is a USB cable & the AFRs are rock-solid.

Here is the Bikirom wired into my car. Instead of plugging the solenoids into the ECU plug, they now go into the the Bikirom outputs (red wire). Simple, cut the wires & put a plug on them, if you look closely you can see another plug coming out of the ECU plug, that's so we can plug a standard VE ECU back in if needed. The blue wire plugs into a switch on the clutch for flat-shifting.

Here is a picture of the engine which has high compression pistons, headwork & cams from Kelford Camtech, modified Fujitsubo headers etc etc etc.

Here is the car on the dyno:

And the result, 150.5wkw from a 2 litre normally aspirated engine!

 Update:

We went to the dyno on the weekend at ST Hitec here in Auckland, the owner of ST Hitec is Soichi Taite who is ex-Nissan Japan & he has a great reputation as both an engine builder and as a tuner.  The point of Saturday's exercise was to try different cam settings and we were able to fully tune for each cam setting we tried. Soichi had never encountered a Bikirom before but within minutes had mastered tuning with it & the result has blown me away. The Alienprobe had put a great base tune on & our top end was pretty much spot on but the dyno tune allowed us to tune all of those mid-range zones that are so hard to hit on the road. She feels very strong through the midrange now... we still picked up 2 kw up top too :).

Tim

Hi it's Tim here; I live in the South coast region of NSW but visit Sydney and western NSW quite frequently. I have setup numerous Bikiroms in Pulsars Using the inputs/outputs for various tasks like oil solenoid activation, shift lights, launch control and map switching. I have had most of the biki's I installed tuned by Scott at Insight motorsports in Arndell Park. He is familiar with the new software and boards and likes to work with them. Scott has over 16 Years of EFI tuning Knowledge behind him and a lot of technology.

Contact myself for an Install and setup quote or booking at Insight motorsports

Further information on Bikiroms in Pulsars specifically for the NeoVVL motors can be found at www.neovvl.org in the forums

 Thanks

Finally making the move from the suburbs into the city. Trying to save up to 1:40 per day! thats 8 hrs per week... or equiv to like 10 weeks of work per year!... more time for bikirom :)

Have a small list of updates for the latest version of bikisoft including datalogging for the latest hardware and the real time map tracing feature...

awesome.. Anyhoo, more later... firing up my PC tonight and working through my release procedure...

Lucas

Welcome to the new area for tuners to blog about their current tuning abilities and recently tuned cars. Over the coming weeks a number of tuners will begin to post their success stories. I have already had a good deal of support from long time tuners around the globs.

 More later
